Sneakers, Minnie Mouse Ears, and a Cookie

How am I going to drink my milk with this cookie in my mouth?

I found my Minnie ears and wore them all evening yesterday. Mommy and Daddy thought I would want to wear them to bed!

Walking around in Mommy's sneakers sure is fun!

The Beach, Finally

We finally made it to the beach today for a great beach day. We headed out as soon as we woke and drove over to York Beach to meet up with friends Erin and Mike and their son, Ryan. Riley has not been a fan of the beach, pools, or getting into her bathing suit so far this summer, so we weren't sure if the almost 2 hour drive would be a waste of not. In fact, when I went to put Riley's suit in the beach bag this morning and she saw it she started to cry and run away. She was a little worried about the sand when we put her on it once we arrived and whimpered, but eventually calmed down and was a mess by the time we left. I never did put her suit on her; instead, she wore an SPF t-shirt and swim bottoms. Ryan and Mike found a few snails and a starfish nearby and brought them back to our spot. Riley thought they were pretty cool to look at (though she did try to put a snail in her mouth!)

Congrats Brendan and Lauren!

This weekend we left Riley at home with Nana and Grampy, who came to take care of her, and went up to Portland for Chris's high school friend Brendan's wedding. We went up on Friday since Chris was a grooms- man. The weather was iffy on Friday, but Saturday turned out to be a great day for a wedding and the whole weekend was lots of fun! Another nice thing, since we missed Riley, was the adorable flower girls, Brendan's nieces, who loved to dance.

Bracelets

Riley loves bracelets and loves putting on Grandma's bracelets when she comes to visit. So, when we were at the store today, I bought Riley a little pack of party bracelets. She loves them although they are a little big and keep falling off!
Here, also, is another picture from the farm the other day. Riley and Great Aunt Lynn are visiting with the baby goats.

Friendly Farm

Yesterday Great Aunt Lynn, Riley and I went over to Dublin to Friendly Farm, which is a nice petting farm. It was really nice and clean. You could go up to and pet almost every animal there and feed them. Riley loved it! She saw chickens, goats, a turkey, a peacock, rabbits, ducks, geese, cows, a horse, pigs, and sheep!

Hmmm...

It has been awhile, but it doesn't really seem like too much has been going on. We have been busy enjoying the finally nice weather, spending time with friends, and seeing visiting relatives. Riley has been busy being a big helper around the house and working on her vocabulary.
She has also been silly playing with the phone.

Big Tortoise

Yesterday we went to a local July 4th celebration one town over from us with our friends Justin, Jessica and baby Leah. It was nice and not too busy. we missed some of the earlier events, but did see part of a horse pull competition and some exotic animals. Riley say a wallaby, a servil cat, a toucan (which was almost eaten by the cat while we stood there), a big snake, a tortoise, and some other things.
Later we all went to our other friends' house for a cookout and stayed chatting around the fire pit for while. What a fun day!

To the Beach?

We just returned today from spending the past three days in Ogunquit. We had been planning this little getaway for 6 weeks or so and did not want to be deterred by the weather. It has been nasty and gloomy here forever it seems and the forecast was not looking good for beach weather. Nevertheless, we went. We stayed at the house with Nana and Grampy who happily babysat Riley while Chris and I went out to do non beach things like shop, eat and go to the movies.
We did take Riley down to the beach on Wednesday when we arrived in town, but no one was there and we needed our sweats. After we took her to the playground where I brought her down the slide.
She also enjoyed playing (or watching me play) in the fort Grampy built her from one of the cabinet boxes that the new kitchen came in. Nana also showed her what to do with curlers and Riley liked looking at her reflection in the mirror and seeing the curler in her hair.

It was warmer and not raining today, so we went to the beach again. Riley, however, was not a fan AT ALL so we took her home and headed back to NH.
