Happy Birthday Peter!

Today is Uncle Peter's 30th Birthday! I tried to get Riley to show Peter her tricks and blow the camera a kiss, but all she wanted to do was be silly and play. So, we have that instead!

Cup

We still have snow in the yard and it seems the forecast holds lots of rain. My first order of dahlia tubers came in the mail today, so spring must be on the way.

New Couch

After 7 weeks of waiting, our new couch is finally here. It feels like we ordered it forever ago, and I'm glad we still like it. The weather continues to warm and melt the snow. We still have quite a bit though, and I can only see the garden where my peonies live - the others are still buried. Some of the peonies are showing their little pink eyes and that's a sign that spring is coming for sure. I also potted up 5 dahlia tubers today. Last Saturday, Riley and I went to a baby dance party hosted by her buddy Leah. The little kids all played together and also dressed up.
Riley has been good as well. She's very silly for the most part, but is also starting to show her stubborn side. She does not like it at all when we don't allow her to do the things she wants. Go play in the bathroom. Pull at Mommy's earrings. Not get her food immediately when she wants it. We just think it's funny and realize that she's just trying things out in this world to see what we'll do.

Snuggly Bunny

Today Laura brought Riley a book called Snuggly Bunny that had a little bunny attached to the front of the book by a little bunny carrier. Riley carried it a few times this afternoon and we got a picture of it this evening.

Snow, Snow, Go Away

I'm not talking about the weather for once. Well, I am, but instead of me wishing for it to stop snowing, I'm wishing for more melting. This is the view from our front deck this morning. Still lots of ice on the pond - although I wouldn't walk on it - and about a foot of snow covering our lawn. I wouldn't mind so much except that I'm constantly driving past lawns with little to no snow left. The weather was nice today and the next few days seem good for melting so we will see what happens.
Riley continues to be such a funny kid and always makes us laugh. She's not walking yet and doesn't seem too interested. She babbles to us in some foreign language all the time though. I occasionally pick out what she's saying. Her favorite word is "balloon" which actually sounds more like "ba-ooon" and I think she said a Riley version of "I love you" tonight into her little play phone when we were pretend talking to the grandparents.

Happy Birthday Ryan!

Yesterday we went over to Ryan's house to celebrate his 2nd birthday which is today. Riley had a lot of fun watching all of the older kids run around and also enjoyed a cupcake which Erin brilliantly put into an ice cream cone for easy holding. Riley loved it and we loved her with icing all over her face and later in her little jumper! Ryan was really cute and kept giving Riley hugs and pats on the back.
