6 Months Old

Today is Caleb's 6 month birthday! He's changed so much since he was born. He's a super mover and is rolling and dragging himself all over the place. He loves playing with Riley and loves looking at Gus and Cesky. His favorite song is "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," which we sing for him in the car if he starts to cry. He loves to eat and loves to dump out bins of blocks and legos.

Highlights

Yesterday, junk mail from Highlights Magazine came, and with it came a sheet of stickers. I gave them to Riley and within the blink of an eye, she had put every single sticker on the front of her shirt. I guess she wasn't interested in saving any for later!

Empty Vase

We have had barely any rain all summer and now for the last 24 hours and the next 24 hours we have sporadic heavy rain and strong winds. So, yesterday I went out and cut what I had blooming so I wouldn't lose them to the weather. I didn't have many, but I put them in a nice vase anyway.

Big Bloom

Here is the kids with the biggest dahlia to bloom so far this year. It's just about as big as their heads!

Dentist

Riley had her second trip to the dentist on Monday of this week. It was her first visit where the dentist cleaned her teeth, flossed, and gave her fluoride. She did a great job. We prepped her for about a week before hand telling her what was going to happen, although I think the book we got about her favorite gal Dora going to the dentist had more power with her. No cavities for Riley!

Corn

Riley helped shuck corn for the first time today. She was confused at first about how this green thing was the same as the corn she has had in the past and was sort of afraid of it. Then she got over it, danced around with it, and started shucking. She even ate some later.

Spoon

I thought giving Caleb the spoon to hold after his dinner would be nice for him so he could mouth it. It never made it to his mouth but instead he immediately hit himself in the head with it.

Beach

We took a quick trip to the beach Thurs/Fri and went to play in the sand at the beach Friday morning. It takes Riley awhile to warm up to the ocean - she's afraid of the waves usually. She did enjoy playing in the little river left by the tide though.

Fisher Cats

Today we took the kids to their first baseball game. We went to the 12:05pm minor league Fisher Cats game. We only stayed until the 5th inning because it was humid and 90+ degrees. Riley enjoyed herself, but I think we will wait until next year before we think of doing that again!

Friends

On Monday we went to a local town beach to see friends from daycare and play for awhile. We had a great time! The older kids are Shannon's summer charges.

This weekend we went down to the Cape for the wedding of my college friend Tara. Grandma and Grandpa watched the kids at their house and we spent one night with Peter and Laura at their place and spent a second night with one of my nest friends, Shannon and her husband.
