Happy Halloween!

Tonight I took Riley trick or treating while Chris stayed home with Caleb, who has an early bedtime and makes us pay if we screw with his sleep schedule. So, after dinner we got Riley all dressed up and she and I headed into town. She was a trooper and walked a lot, was awesome at saying her trick or treats, thank yous and with waiting her turn. About halfway through she did admit that her hands were cold and let me put her jacket on. She was only scared once when we were stuck behind a green lagoon creature for a few houses. She had a great time!

Dear Mom,

I remember when I was a little girl watching you get ready to go out to a party or somewhere with Dad. I remember sitting on your bed and seeing you put on your makeup, jewelry, and perfume. I thought you were just about the most beautiful and special person ever.
This morning as I walked down in to the kitchen wearing a gold sequined top for school, I heard a tiny intake of breath from the little girl across the room. When that little breath gushed out, "Mommy, I like your pretty shirt," I knew Riley was looking at me the same way I looked at you.

8 Months Old!

At eight months old, Caleb is just over 23 pounds. He's also a busy, busy boy. He's still working the belly drag crawl, but is fast and boy are we in trouble once he figures out he can get up on his hands and knees and be even faster. He is always on the go - even if we're trying to change his diaper. In fact, he only settles down for poopy diapers to be cleaned away and then tries to escape before we can get a new one on him!

The Goopy-goo

Today Chris and Riley carved out Riley's first pumpkin. It was filled with "goopy-goo" that Riley wasn't a fan of, but she did enjoy scooping out and watching Daddy cut out the jack-o-lantern face. Caleb watched intently.

Apple Picking

Yesterday we took the kids apple picking and then to the local Pumpkin Festival. Caleb wore his Halloween outfit and Riley wore something Halloweeney.

Riley was very excited to pick out her outfit all by herself today.

A Little Late

 

Caleb turned 7 months old last month without the usual placard and fanfare. He went recently to the doctor's for an ear check and weighed in at 21lbs 8 oz!







He loves practicing standing up, but his teeth are still a no show. I can see them though working their way through his poor sore gums.













I also picked up his first winter jacket at the consignment store.
