Birthday Boy!

Today we had Caleb's 1st birthday party. (The big day is tomorrow, the 28th.) Even though we received almost 6 inches of snow last night and this morning, all of our guests made it. Uncle Peter and Laura came up yesterday for a "sleepover" and we had lots of fun playing Zingo (it's like Bingo) with Riley before bed and Trivial Pursuit after. Peter and Laura won Trivial Pursuit, but, for the record, Chris and I had a few ridiculously hard questions.

Experiment

Today we were home from school due to snow. (Again.) Riley notices a little snowball on the floor that had been attached to Cesky when he came in from outside. So, I picked it up and showed her what happened when I held it. She was amazed to see that the snowball turned into water. So, we put an ice cube in water and she checked on it occasionally until it, too, was water. Then she drank it. She wanted to do it again. This time we filled one cup with snow from outside and put an ice cube in the another cup. Then we waited for that to melt, too. Fun science for a three year-old on a snow day!

The weather is getting better slowly, but last week we had a three day warm-up that melted a lot of the snow off the pond. It also turned our driveway to a skating rink - but a few more warm days will get rid of that problem. 

Caleb is also getting closer to walking. He took about 5 steps from Shannon (day care provider) to me when I picked him up today.  Last weekend, he grabbed onto the back of Riley's shirt and walked behind her as she walked.

11 Months Old!

Well, Caleb turned 11 months old the other day, and while I neglected to take a picture of him that day, or weigh him, here are a few pictures I took during yesterday's respite from school (AKA the 4th snow day - today was the 5th).
