In a Blink

Well, here we are at the end of January, and where has the time gone? With everyone in the house (except Chris) being sick for most of the month and the change of semesters at work, the month has gone by in the blink of an eye.
Riley's birthday party was supposed to be the Saturday following her birthday, but two days prior, Caleb came down with a nasty cold and the day before he had full blown conjunctivitis. So, the party was postponed for one week. By Monday, Riley had pink-eye and a cold, too. By Tuesday, the day of her 3 year old appointment, she also had a double ear infection.Caleb held on to his cold, so by the time two and a half weeks had passed, I hauled him back to the doctor and he had a double ear infection, too. This weekend, we are (temporarily, I'm sure) well.

Thanks to Laura, who took all of the photos from Riley's party!
Riley's party was nice but small. Mostly family as friend Leah had to leave early for another party, and friend James was sick, so he and his sister stayed home. Friend Ryan and his new brother Jack stayed for the festivities though, including cupcakes, which Riley and I frosted the day before.
Caleb has also been practicing his walking with the little push toy and is getting quite skilled. We're in trouble!

Birthday Girl!

We can't believe it, but our baby girl Riley is 3 years old today! She was of course) extremely excited to be turning 3 and didn't even really mention gifts at all. Our gifts for her were all on a nature watcher theme. After we returned home this afternoon we went up to her room "looking" for her presents and there was a tree shaped tent set up with a few presents inside. We gave her binoculars and a lantern, a sketch book and fancy twist up crayons, and books about birds, plants, and animals. She was in love with the tent and knew just what to do with the binoculars. Later, after dinner, we gave her a small cake and sang.

Visit

On New Year's Eve day we headed up to visit Nana and Grampy at their house and left the kids with them while Chris and I went out to shop and have lunch. When we returned to pick up the kids, we found Riley outside with Nana. They had just finished making a snowman together. Then Nana brought out an old saucer for sledding and showed Riley how much fun it was to sled down the hill in the yard. Everyone took a turn, even Caleb on my lap and now Riley loves sledding!
